Congratulations to Jamie Barr, our newest partner from 1 April

Jamie specialises in business law and has particular expertise in business structuring and shareholder arrangements, commercial contract advice, business acquisitions and disposals, finance and banking. Before joining us in 2013, Jamie worked as a commercial banker with New Zealand’s largest bank. Prior to that he gained significant experience working with a large corporate and boutique commercial law firm.

Welcome to our new staff

Jessica Shaw has joined our relationship property and employment team in Takapuna. Starting her legal career in Timaru, Jess has recently returned from working at the Treasury Solicitor’s Department in London. This involved defending the UK government against alleged human rights breaches that occurred in immigration decisions, such as unlawful asylum refusal and unlawful detention. We’re pleased to have Jess on board.

We would also like to welcome five new law graduates to the firm – Julia Tillett, Alexandra Pasley, Philippa McNabb, Lotta De Smet and Toby Wilkinson.

Julia and Alexandra (Ali) are Otago graduates and both are working in our Takapuna commercial teams. Julia is working in Greg Woodd’s team, and Ali is working with Nicola Russ and her group of lawyers.

Our third Otago graduate Philippa (Pip) has joined Brian Stewart’s civil litigation team.

We have welcomed back Lotta De Smet who was a summer clerk in 2016. After finishing her law degree in Denmark, Lotta has joined Candice Murphy’s relationship property/employment law team.

Also joining us Toby Wilkinson who is working with Ken Paterson in the Takapuna office on property matters. A Victoria University of Wellington graduate, Toby enjoyed a university exchange at the University of Groningen in the Netherlands.

And returning to us

We’re very pleased to welcome back Emily Townsend, after a short break away, Emily has joined Robert Clark’s property team in Takapuna.
